Welcome to New Forest Quaker Care Home Ltd. We are a non-for-profit charity organisation. We are a purpose built home, with both the physical & emotional well-being of older people in mind. Our home opened in 1977 & is situated close to the New Forest & the beaches of Barton on Sea & Milford on Sea. We offer long & short-term care to a maximum of 38 older people. Respect & kindness form our guiding ethos & we aim to foster a culture that actively encourages this, to all who live & work in our home. Our aim is to provide a person centred care service, providing high quality care that meets the needs & wishes of each individual at all times. We are dedicated to providing a service that treats people with respect, dignity & protects their privacy in a safe, environment & to support individual choice & personal decision-making We open our home to people who are over 65 years old, who may have sensory impairment, physical disabilities, require support & assistance with all aspects of their daily life, who may be frail and/or want the company of seeing other people each day. Seeing a friendly face each day can make the difference to a persons’ well-being. We also provide respite care & end of life support. Our management team in the home has changed over recent times. The team is now led by our Registered Manager, – Jeanette Manning, she has over 15 years’ experience working in social care. Jeanette has her Registered Managers’ Award (RMA), Level 4 in Health & Social Care & all mandatory qualifications for the care environment. Her passion is ensuring everybody receives the care they want & should be receiving & that Quaker House is warm friendly home for all that live & visit. Our business Manager – Charles Keene is a Chartered Accountant with direct experience of working with charities & regulated environments. His knowledge & experience is an asset for Quaker House. We are supported in our home by a Senior Care team, who are led by our Deputy Manager – Ieva Silina. All our Senior team have a wealth of experience & knowledge in social care. We have a stringent recruitment procedure in place. Our Care workers are all required to have an Enhanced DBS disclosure, before commencing employment with us. We request references, including the latest employer. All new employees have to provide a full employment history including any gaps there may be. All intended new employees have to complete an induction course & period of shadowing with experienced staff before working with residents on their own. This induction covers all aspects of the company’s policy & procedures, training on moving & positioning, medication, infection control, safeguarding, health & safety & the role of a care worker. Employees of Quaker House continually update their training throughout the year with refresher training courses. This ensures that all our staff are up to date with new regulations, policy & procedures. We provide specialist training that may be required depending on the Residents we are looking after i.e diabetes, parkinsons, catheter care, continence care, visual impairment, speech impairment. We work very closely with our local GP surgeries, District Nurses, Occupational Therapists, to ensure we are delivering the highest standard of care possible for our Residents. We support residents with their medication needs, nutrition & fluids, personal care, emotional & social well -being.
